
Our Board of Directors is comprised of a carefully selected group of individuals who come from a variety of education and employment backgrounds. Members are chosen based on the perspective and talents they can contribute, and are charged with the responsibility of acting as the governing body of Hope's Home to ensure the organization's philosophy, goals, mission, and vision are met.
John Labatt has held senior positions in the fields of family counseling, child welfare, youth justice, mental health and addictions services and has extensive experience working in the non-profit, government, and regional health sectors. Most recently he was the Vice President of Primary Health Care Services for the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. John has an MSW from the University of British Columbia, is married to wife Claudia, and has three grown children and two grandchildren.
Adam Ailsby is a lawyer with the law firm of Kanuka Thuringer LLP in Regina and has a background in economics and public relations. Adam is also active in the multicultural and soccer communities and lives with his wife, Michele, in Regina.
Joan Kortje is currently the Regional Coordinator for the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Regina Chapter and has extensive experience in administration and fundraising in the non-profit sector having also worked with the Alzheimer Society Of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Cancer Society. Prior to joining the Kidney Foundation last year she worked in the family accounting practice for 12 years doing bookkeeping for small business and income tax. She has a Certificate in Business Administration from the University of Regina. Joan has one daughter who has blessed her with four grandchildren.
Sandra Palandri is a Senior Medical Social Worker employed by the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region and has been working in the Children's Program at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre since 1999. Her employment with the Health Region extends back to 1984 when she was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (1984 - 1999) in the Extended Care and Veterans Program at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.
Karol Schram has a background as a Registered Nurse in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital from 1979-2007. Adding to her extensive nursing experience is a successful career in real estate. Karol is now a Realtor for Century 21 Conexus Realty Ltd. in the Regina area.
Kay has been an early childhood educator, an assistant director, and an executive director of an early childhood centre. She has spent the last 16 years as an instructor at SIAST in the Early Childhood Education Program. She is committed to graduating students who will teach and care for children with respect while creating environments that strongly support the perseveration of the child's spirit. Kay is married and has two children.
Brucie Moulden comes from a professional background in the visual arts, arts programming and instruction. As an instructor she taught introductory art classes to children through her own business, Handscapes. Over the course of that time she spent several years managing program offerings at the City Arts Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. Brucie's granddaughter Anja has attended Hope's Home for the past two and a half years, and her role as the caregiver of a child with disabilities provides her with an important perspective as an active board member. Brucie hopes her personal experiences will prove of strong value to the board of directors and she looks forward to being able to contribute to the continued growth and development of Hope's Home.
Terrie Dumelie has extensive experience providing support to families of children with significant special needs. She has worked with ReginaPublic Schools as consultant, coordinator and psychologist. While retired from Regina Public Terrie continues to do some part time contracts. She has a Masters of Education in Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan. Terrie is married to Gil and there are 7 grown children in their family. They also have 6 absolutely wonderful grandchildren.
Terrance began a career as a Probation Officer in Yorkton and worked in various capacities in the corrections field throughout the province. Overall his career spanned 33 years with the provincial government, with the last five years, serving as the Deputy Minister of Corrections and Public Safety and for a short while, as the Deputy Minister for Municipal Affairs. He holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina. He has also co-chaired the Regina Child Abuse Prevention Committee. Terrance is an active woodworker and furniture designer.
Rich is the Community Development Manager with Affinity Credit Union and has spent the last 10 years in the Credit Union system. He is the President of the Credit Union Manager’s Association, Past President of the ReginaSport District and a member of Credit Union Central of Canada’s National Young Leader Committee. Rich lives in Regina with his wife Loralee and their two young children, Owen and Blakely. He enjoys spending his time outdoors, camping or hunting. Rich became involved with Hope’s Home after witnessing the great work being done by the staff and the organization within the community.
Joe Moffatt is the owner of Joe Moffatt & Associates Financial Services Inc, a thriving financial practice in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Joe graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Finance degree and prior to joining SunLife worked as an Investment Analyst and Fund Manager with The Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation. He is passionate about the insurance and investment business and the role it plays in his client’s lives. He attributes this passion to his ability to qualify for convention every year since joining SunLife and for becoming a consistent Court of the Table member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Joe and his wife Krista have three wonderful daughters, Caitlin, Emily, and Elizabeth. A strong sense of family values and community spirit is at the heart of Joe’s personality.
